It is interesting to see alternative IDE's to do Salesforce development, and point out some of the issues using VS Code. For me the main challenge would be onboarding new developers and getting support from Salesforce themselves with any problems. The new Salesforce Code Builder (based on VS Code) also points to a future where the Salesforce development environment may also be SaaS only.
